Choose one of the topics below. Once you choose your topic, write a short essay answering the question and explaining the topic you choose. Remember to express how you feel and explain whatever the topic is when writing the essay. The staff of the Daily Wolverine will go through all submitted essays. Whichever essays are our favorites, they will win a special prize as well as the essay being posted on the Daily Wolverine for everyone to enjoy! We will choose 2 winners. Please take the time and carefully read each topic idea to decide which topic you would like to make aN essay about. Below each topic question are some question ideas you may use, if you wish, to help you write your essay. You may choose one topic of your choice to write about! Have fun!
1. What was your favorite part of this school year? (2014-2015 school year)
-Tell how this event of the school year made you feel.
-Why was this event your favorite?
-Who helped make this event your favorite? Were there any people?
-What was the event? A sports season at WB, a club, an assembly, a teacher or classmate experience?
2. Are there any WB Middle School teachers or staff that inspired you this year?
-How many teachers inspired you?
-Which teachers (teacher) inspired you?
-Which classes do these teachers (teacher) teach?
-How did he/she inspire you?
-Without these teachers (teacher), how would your 2015 school year have been different?
3. Which class was your favorite this year?
-Why was this class your favorite?
-What did you learn in this class?
-You can NOT use lunch, recess, or study hall for this topic!
-What made this class your favorite? Was it the teacher, certain students, topics, tests, projects?
4. In your own words, what makes Wolf Branch the best school?
-Explain why Wolf Branch is different from other schools.
-Describe all the great things about Wolf Branch that other schools do not have.
-Why is Wolf Branch the best school? The academics, teachers, staff, students, fun events, clubs, committees, and sports?
5. Were there any clubs, committees, or sports teams that made this school year great?
-What was the group or groups that made your school year great?
-How did it feel to be a part in this group?
-Why or how did this group (or groups) impact this school year for you or other students?
-Was there any one thing that stood out to you that made this group the best?
-What are the names of the staff members that led the group this year? How did they make the group special?
(Some groups you could talk about are band, chorus, media club, sports teams, dance team, cheerleading, chess team, plays, etc. if you were in them this year)
If you come up with your own topic, you may use it for your essay. Just be sure the topic goes along with the “What made your school year amazing this year?” theme.
Once you find an idea that you would like to make an essay out of, go ahead and create the essay. You may write out your essay on paper for planning, but when you submit the essay, it must be typed. Please type the essay using your school email on google drive. Printing the essay using a printer is not necessary. Use the program “Google Documents” to type it. Please include your first and last name on the essay somewhere on it as well as your grade. (ex. 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade) You MUST name the document “Daily Wolverine Writing Contest 2015”. When you are ready to submit, share the document with Mrs. Duncan. To share, click the blue “Share” button in the top right hand corner. You can either type in “Heather Duncan” or “email@example.com” in the name bar under “share”. The essay will be due Monday, May 18, 2015. All essays must be submitted by that day. If you are one of the lucky winners, we will contact you using your school email or we will find you in person at school. Good luck!
